Okay, so there are lots of characters to be found in Jacky’s wonderful world. Here’s a list of the ones I’ll probably be talking about the most. Presented in no particular order.
Jacqueline (Jacky) Kendricks: Heroine. A somewhat cynical, apathetic young woman in her mid-twenties. Like a typical heroine, she had a tragic past, which she still bears the scars of. No, seriously. Her parents were killed by a demon and his minions, and said demon liked to play with fire. And flesh. The scars that cover her left leg from top of foot to lower back are really pretty. They’re also a pretty pain in the ass.
Though helpful, really. She can feel demons as generally excruciating pain through the scars. Always nice to know when one of the damned is hanging around.
Tory Atkins: Jacky’s best friend. Tory’s parents adopted Jacky after her parents were killed. More because Tory wanted them to than out of the goodness of their kind and caring hearts. Tory’s interests include dancing with the things that go bump in the night (and in the light, actually), teasing Jacky, and working at a preternatural law firm.
All of which causes Jacky a great deal of worry.
Denzel: Sexy vampire extordinaire.
‘nough said.
No, really though, he’s the master of the city’s largest kiss. Which means that all the other smaller vampire kisses answer to him to. He’s a big, bad, seductive bastard, and he’s taken up the highly amusing habit of finding ways and reasons to bite Jacky. Who fears having her throat ripped out.
Milandu: A higher fire demon of the first order, first generation. He’s also a muse in the High court of Hell. Just what a muse of Hell does isn’t really clear, but it is known that it puts him pretty damn close to Lusivar, king and highlord of Hell. Not that Milandu gives a shit. Really. Most of his interest lies in Jacky and either killing her or keeping her alive. It’s sometimes hard to tell.
Even for Milandu.
Constantine: An angel that doesn’t come in until book three (two). Erm…I can’t really say much about Con without giving away great and amusing spoilers, so I’ll just say that’s a frumpy, grumpy angel with no sense of humor. He either looks angry or disapproving. Though, on the rare occasion, he has been known to smile.
Revenant: Revenant is a scary S.O.B., and no doubts about it. But I lovers him. Jacky…has mixed feelings about him. Since, you know, he hunts her, tries to kill her, and later tells her that he’ll be waiting for the day when she no longer fears him.
Zach: A lowly median demon who plays with fire, Jacky gets stuck with him. She doesn’t mean to, is convinced she was tricked into it, but there ya go. Another character presented in book three (two) that I can’t really give details about. He is a big pain in the ass though. For Jacky. I find Zach amusing.
